The Harmonious Volunteer Center has been innovated with establishing working system designs that can be reproduced, implemented and utilized by the nonprofit community; business community; and civic community.  These designs affect the population from birth to death and cross all disciplines of commerce, education, and government.  We have designated our involvement for the improvement of our society as a “Healthy Community Concept” which is all inclusive of the multiple concerns that we have as citizens.  These concerns are taking place at the same time and space in our lives and as such will be no easy task to solve each one at the same time, however, through open transparent communications and honest discussions we are approaching collaborative input resulting in sound planning processes that brings our collective efforts to equitable conclusions.  As we all agree to the pros and cons of these given situations, we allow ourselves to develop relationships in harmony with one another and thus the Harmonious Volunteer Center has become self reliant and self sufficient in being a conduit for effective resources on behalf of participating nonprofits, businesses, civic and government agencies.  All volunteers at the Harmonious Volunteer Center take a particular pride in achievements that have been accomplished over the years and even more pride at the creative inclusion representing the vision of our social future.  It would give our organization great pleasure to name names of those who have been recipients of our volunteer efforts, however, we will recommend that you visit our website for additional information: www.harmoniousvolunteercenter.org

Everyone wants to know about the Harmonious Volunteer Center and about the work that we have been doing.  Our organization is a pro active one and community involved.  From the Office of the Executive Director, we have prepared for you this outline to help provide you with clarity concerning our organization and involvements. (Consider this segment a Resource Guide).   Prior to and As of January 2012 you will be informed at this website: www.harmoniousvolunteercenter.org as we give you a very realistic insight.  Our original logo is trees deeply planted in the grassroots of our mother earth.  We will be adopting a new logo which will be the HVC Baseball cap.  Our existing 28 programs will remain intact and we will list and explain each one to you here:

Good Government Program – Insures that we citizens are an informed group of voters who are aware of the legislative processes concerning our municipalities, states, and nation.

Housing Program – Will provide referrals for rentals and real estate requirements as available to us that may benefit individuals and families.

Transportation Program – Insures that we are capable of moving equipment, in-kind donations and volunteer personnel as may be necessary.

Area Beautification Program - Offers our volunteers and neighbors the opportunities to maintain safe and clean streets and parks.

Gift of Giving Program - Allows our organization to be a conduit for needy recipients in under-served neighborhoods.  All types of merchandise has been made available including a Children’s program consisting of toys-educational activity books and clothing.

Recycling Program - Insures that we are providing whatever environmental justice that we can muster.  Recycling with solid waste management and ecological matters.  Think Green.

Computer Training Program – Teaches young and old the ABCs of the world of computers and technology.  The new MCOL Techmobile increases our training capacity.

Computer Training Program – Advance understanding of computers and technology.  Websites, Internet Usage, Office application programs.

Video Training Program – Where we produce graphic and audio images to review our performances and presentations as well as our imaging styles.

Public Speaking Program – Where our volunteers learn to present verbally.

Journalism Training Program- Writing skills enhanced with news reporting; newsletters; church calendars; essays; etc.

Merchandise Training Program - Builds customer service skills as well as development in inventory management, accounting, and material handling.

Donor Program – Where contributors may donate financial and in-kind supports to the Harmonious Volunteer Center.

Event Coordination Program - which is the planning of major and minor events such as festivals, fund raising events and activities.

Crime Watch Program- Anti Crime efforts requires a watchful eye at all times.

Positive Youth Development Program-Kid’s Are Creative; Kid’s Fun Day;

Talent Bank Program-Talent is found everywhere and in all disciplines.  Our organization seeks talent of all types and at all levels of performance capabilities.

Adopt A Park Program-Fairmount Park System in Philadelphia is known to be one of the largest parks in the nation.  There are thousands of vacant areas where houses use to stand that are now vacant lots.  The HVC joins with the efforts of the City/Parks Department to reform and maintain these urban lot settings.   Adopt A Tree program for children to become empowered with the care of their parks and open spaces.

Grant Writing Training Program-For individuals and groups who wish to learn how to write a grant will learn the processes and requirements of doing so in this program.
